What is AIMA? (Goodbye SEF)

SEF (Foreigners and Borders Service) was abolished in late 2023. Its administrative functions were taken over by AIMA (Agency for Integration, Migration, and Asylum).

When people say "I have a SEF appointment," they mean AIMA. The police functions of SEF were transferred to the PSP and GNR. AIMA handles your residency cards, renewals, and family reunification.
