Cinema: Subtitles vs. Dubbing

Good news for expats: Portugal rarely dubs movies for adults. Films are shown in their original language (usually English) with Portuguese subtitles. Look for "VO" (Versão Original) on the listing.

The exception is animated movies for children, which are almost always dubbed ("VP" - Versão Portuguesa). If you want to see a Disney movie in English, you must specifically look for a late-night session marked "VO".
