Dental Care in Portugal

The public health system (SNS) generally does not cover routine dental care for adults. Most residents pay out-of-pocket at private clinics or use private health insurance that includes a dental plan (Estomatologia).

However, vulnerable groups (children, pregnant women, and elderly with low income) can access "Cheque-Dentista," a voucher system allowing free treatments at partner private clinics. Check with your family doctor if you qualify.
