Annual Property Tax (IMI)
If you own property, you must pay IMI annually. The rate varies by municipality (usually between 0.3% and 0.45% of the tax asset value). Payments are due in May, but larger amounts can be split into installments in May, August, and November.
New homeowners can often claim an IMI exemption for the first 3 years if the property is their permanent residence and the value is below a certain threshold (currently around €125,000).
