IRS Declaration Deadlines

The tax season in Portugal runs strictly from April 1st to June 30th. During this window, you must submit your IRS declaration for the previous year's income. Missing this deadline results in automatic fines starting at €25.

Even if you have no tax to pay (or have "Automatic IRS"), you must confirm your submission on the Portal das Finanças. For the 2025 tax year (declared now in 2026), ensure your bank account (IBAN) is updated on the portal to receive any refunds.
