Can the Landlord Enter My Home?

In Portugal, a rented property is your private home. The landlord cannot enter without your permission or prior notice, even to inspect the condition of the flat. Unannounced visits are illegal.

The only exception is for urgent repairs (like a burst pipe) or during the final months of the contract to show the apartment to new tenants, but even then, the visits must be agreed upon mutually.
