Permanent Residency (5 Years)

After 5 years of temporary residency, you can apply for Permanent Residency. Unlike citizenship, this does not give you a passport, but it grants a 10-year renewable card and protects you from deportation.

You still need to prove basic Portuguese knowledge (A2 level) and financial means. It is a good alternative for those whose home countries do not allow dual citizenship.
