Private Deed vs. Public Deed

Buying a house doesn't always require a public Notary. A "Documento Particular Autenticado" (Authenticated Private Document) signed before a Lawyer or Solicitor has the same legal value as a public deed (Escritura).

This method is often faster and cheaper than waiting for a slot at a public Notary office. However, if you are taking a mortgage, the bank will usually dictate which method and professional they prefer.
