Short Sick Leave (Self-Declaration)

For illnesses lasting up to 3 days, you no longer need to see a doctor. You can issue a "Self-Declaration of Illness" (Autodeclaração de Doença) directly through the SNS 24 app or website.

You can use this mechanism twice a year. It justifies your absence from work but does not entitle you to sick pay from Social Security for those 3 days. It is strictly to protect you from disciplinary action for missing work.
